Is it normal for kids to walk on their tiptoes? What can cause this and do what age is it treatable?
Toe walking is very common in young children and toddlers who are beginning to walk. Most children outgrow toe walking, but a few children will continue to walk on their toes due to habit. Most of the time, toe walking can be observed and the child will grow out of it. However, children with cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, or a nerve or muscle disease may also walk on their toes. A thorough exam and history of your child from a pediatrician or family physician can make sure that your child's toe walking is not due to these causes.
