Dear Doctor

May 2020

Question:

My daughter is almost 18months. She can cruise using the sofa to hold and walk using the wall but when she tries to walk on her own, she can't. Her left foot points outward and her right foot is normal points straight. What can I do to help her with her left foot?

Answer:

Having the feet point in two different directions can definitely make it difficult to walk! It is probably worth having your child see a pediatric orthopaedist for an exam and possibly x-rays. This can be a difficult time to make a doctor's appointment but as things start to open up many orthopaedists are seeing patients again.
