Dear Doctor

December 2015

Question:

Why should I take my child to a pediatric orthopaedist instead of a general orthopaedist?

- Michelle - Spokane, WA (Parent)

Answer:

A Pediatric Orthopaedist has spent a full year of extra training to learn how to treat kids with bone and joint problems. Most pediatric orthopaedists' offices treat only kids and have a child-friendly environment. However, many general orthopaedists are comfortable and qualified to take care of children. If you like your orthopaedist and trust him/her, you do not necessarily need to stop seeing your doctor if he or she is comfortable taking care of your child.
